looking forward but being present

It has been a while. Life has been busy. What is really the issue is I have been planning a post about our nest-to-be in Taos. But it just didn’t or wouldn’t come together.

Yesterday when E-man was watching the garbage truck travel down the alley, it came to me. I don’t want to post about the new house because we are still HERE, in Eagle county, enjoying our home and soaking in the familiarity and family of friends that have ushered us through marriage, two career changes, and the birth of our boys. I am sad to leave, grateful for the wonderful ten years we have had here, and excited for what lies ahead. I’ll post about the new house when we are there. But we are here now, and now is important.

So today I’ll share a photo of Emmett watching the garbage truck. A Monday morning ritual that will be repeated three more times. I need to pause and soak in that bittersweet thought for a moment…

And another of the boys watching the lawnmowers and weedwhackers, from inside, ‘cuz they are a little scary. There are so many other moments like these. I hope I can catch a few more on camera. Though these little moments could be easily forgotten, they are the fabric of our life.

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” – Albert Einstein

  1. I enjoyed reading your post tonight. What simple adn beautiful moments that bring joy. I love the Einstein quote. It is a poignant reminder to really *be* in the moment when it happens.

Can’t wait to hear about your new house!

  2. Let us know when you are settled in NM…looks like my mom and I will be in Taos sometime late June…if you’re there, we’d love to say hi and see the new digs!
